Infographics are a simple way to visually communicate information. I’m passionate about genealogy, and love DIY projects. Today, I was thinking about how I could use an info-graphic for my extended family to build excitement for our upcoming Kohler family reunion. (You could also adapt this for a holiday newsletter. )  There are several different free and paid info-graphic generators that can be found using your search engine.  After reviewing several, I decided to use infogr.am,  because I liked the look of the free templates.  Plans can be upgraded for business and professional use.

There are so many options for information that you can include in your info-graphic after you have done some family history research.  If you have spent a lot of time gathering information to add to you your family tree, this could be a way to share it with the rest of the family.  Here are a few category ideas to get you started-

  • Average life span
  • Number of years married
  • Places lived (you can add maps and highlight states)
  • Number of children
  • Gender of children
  • Eye color
  • Level of education

You could create info-graphics for past generations as well. What information will you include on your info-graphic?
